WELLINGTON crashed out of a competition to a first division side in the Jewson Western League for a second time this month when they lost 4-0 at home to Mendip Broadwalk in the Somerset Premier Cup.
Having won eight successive games recently, this was another surprise defeat for Richard Cherry’s outfit.
Mendip Broadwalk led 1-0 at half time through a goal by Dave Whittle in the 24th minute and doubled their lead when Mickey Gough turned in a cross in the 55th minute.
Rhys Hickery virtually made sure of victory for the visitors with a third goal in the 76th minute and Elliott Moore added to Wellington’s misery with a fourth in the 82nd minute.
Meanwhile Wellington have no fixture until Saturday, December 7, when they are due to play mid-table Brislington away in the Premier Division.
Wellington Reserves are hoping for a return to action when they play at home to bottom side Lyme Regis in the Premier Division of the Devon and Exeter League.
Wellington A, hammered 7-0 away by North Petherton in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League last weekend, play the same opposition at Court Fields.
Wellington Reds, three points off the pace in the first division, are home to Wembdon Reserves.
