IT WAS a bit of a mixed bag for the Wellington Under 10s football squad as they took on Galmington.
After a three-week break, the team looked a bit rusty to start things off. They began the day playing some decent passing football, but it wasn't quite up to their usual high standards.
The lads just couldn't seem to find that killer instinct and rhythm that makes their play so effective. At times they showed flashes of the quality we know they possess, but they struggled to sustain it for long stretches of the games.
When the final whistle blew, the Wellington squad had recorded one win, one draw, and two losses on the day. The goalscorers were Rex Beatty with a brace, and Kohen Woodgate chipping in with one.
Despite the mixed results, the coaching staff will likely feel the players learned more from the challenges they faced than they would have from simply rolling over the opposition. These types of difficult matches are where the real growth happens.
A big thank you as always goes out to the kit sponsor Roadchef and the jacket sponsor R&M Motor for their continued support of the young Wellington squad. Their contributions help make days like this possible.
