ABOUT 260 teams will be competing in the Taunton and District Youth Football League, which includes sides from Wellington and West Somerset, this coming season.

The league is expected to get underway on the weekend of Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8.

"At the moment we have 257 teams registered, but we're expecting more," said secretary Gary Best. "We also have a team from Winscombe who have joined.

"Apart from the usual league and cup competitions, there will also be a new competition for the Under 12s who are knocked out of the KO Cup in the first round."
