WELLINGTON Under 9s hosted a strong Middlezoy team last Saturday, rearranging the game at Taunton Vale Sports Club, writes JOHN NORMAN.
Middlezoy started off very strongly, and at times completely outplayed the hosts who had to defend for long periods.
The main positives to be taken from the first two games were the goalkeeping performances from Oscar Moore and Edward Hugget who both made some great saves to keep Middlezoy at bay.
Wellington got back to their better ways later in the morning, and started to play some lovely football and spread the play well.
The morning finished with Wellington winning one, losing one and drawing two.
They scored five goals and conceded four.
The goal scorers were Jude Norman, Rex Beatty, Jack Jorge, Louis Molloy and Harrison Thompson.
This was not the normal free-flowing football the boys are used to but is a game where lots of lessons need to be learnt, earn the right to play football by working hard as a team, keep football simple and have confidence in the man next to you.
More lessons learnt than if we won 10-0.
