WELLINGTON’S football manager Tim Legg will be looking for a much better display in tomorrow’s home game against Exmouth Town in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League after last weekend’s below-par performance against Buckland Athletic.
He said after the 2-0 defeat: “During the first half we created a couple of half chances but apart from that never really challenged our opponents.
“It was a poor match on the whole which was disappointing after coming off previous games feeling good that we gave our best. We didn’t give the best account of ourselves. We will be looking to put that right against Exmouth.”
Exmouth are lying second in the table, seven points behind leaders Tavistock with a game in hand.
The sides played each other in the league only two weeks ago when the seasiders won 1-0 on their own ground. Wellington fielded a much-changed side and could easily have come away with a draw.
But it was very much the story of the season for Wellington who had plenty of the play and created scoring chances but came away with nothing.
This was why last weekend’s display against Buckland was so disappointing. Wellington never really looked like winning despite players returning to the side.
Legg has been looking at a mid-table finish to the season but this looks increasingly beyond them.
