WELLINGTON’S soccer supporters face a feast of football at the Playing Field in the next 17 days.

Clive Jones’ boys have five home games during this spell, including a match against second-placed Cheddar in Division One of the Toolstation League tonight (Wed, March 16).

However, Wellington have not won since they beat Calne Town away at the end of February.

Since then they have lost two of four matches and drawn the other two.

Their 1-1 draw with Warminster Town over the weekend was their eighth draw of the season and was marred by the sending off of goalkeeper Mitch Woodgate, who was sent off for the second time in four days.

Two straight reds means he faces at least a four-match ban, maybe longer.

In fact, Wellington have had a player sent off in three successive matches and will almost certainly have to look at their disciplinary record.

Wellington’s opponents tonight are lying second in the table but did not play on Saturday because their game at Wincanton was called off. They, too, have drawn eight games this season so this game looks like being another stalemate.

Other Wellington home matches to watch out for are: March 19th v Portishead, 23rd v Almondsbury UWE, 28th (Easter Monday) Chard Town, April 2 Hengrove Athletic.

Classy defender Jack Porter is ruled out of tonight’s game with damaged ankle ligaments. He was injured at Warminster and attended by paramedics before being allowed back to the area where he received more medical help.

Nothing was broken but such an injury can take longer to get better than a break.

Wellington Reserves, who also had a player sent off in the 4-1 home defeat by University 2nds in Division Two of the Devon and Exeter League, are again without a fixture on a Saturday while Hemyock are looking to end their lean spell when they play away to sixth-placed Cullompton Rangers in Division Two.

Wellington Thirds are home to Bradninch in Division Five.
