WELLINGTON Town U14s suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of North Curry in Division 2 of the Taunton and District Youth League.
Sunday's fixture, played out at a boggy Recreation ground, started well for the hosts; Sam Alderman's 22-yard free kick found the top corner to give Town the lead after six minutes.
North Curry, who have recorded some impressive results, roared back with a goal of their own 10 minutes later.
In a half that was becoming increasingly open, it was Wellington who came closest to doubling their advantage. Fletcher Langley's strike, with only a handful of minutes left in the half, sailed narrowly wide.
But a goal from the visitors shortly after the restart saw Curry take the lead for the first time.
A goal down, and with injuries starting to mount, Welly continued to take the fight to the visitors; Alderman, Olly Bradford and the ever industrious Jack Folwer impressive in Town's midfield as they searched for an equailser.
And whilst it was Wellington who looked the more likely to grab the game's next goal in the closing stages, it was Curry who hung on to claim the spoils.
Wellington’s next game is at Bridgwater VPR.
