WELLINGTON 3rd XI kept in touch with the leading sides in Division Six West of the Somerset Cricket League with a seven-wicket away win over Ilton 2nd XI.
Ilton, put into bat, ran into all sorts of problems and were bowled out for 77 in only 17 overs.
Not one of their top eight batters managed double figures while Jack Anstay, coming in at No 9, scored 16 and last man Jay Rowe was 15 not out.
Wellington's successful bowlers were George Davis 4-7, Tyler Fyfe 3-16, Tom O'Neil 2-34 and Connor Wickenden 1-14.
Wellington lost David Derrick with the score on 11, but opener Simon Burrough went on to make 51 with 11 fours, while Des Campbell was 13 not out.
Wellington are currently in fifth spot, 46 points behind the leaders Winscombe with both sides having played eight games.
Wellington play away to Taunton Indian, who are only one place above their rivals, in the league on Saturday. Winscombe are away to Wembdon in a top of the table clash.
Winscombe have 247 points while Wembdon are only nine points behind their rivals, both sides having played the same number of games.
