WELLINGTON face a tough away match against high-flyers Midsomer Norton in the Bristol/Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, July 13.

Midsomer Norton produced the result of the day last Saturday, winning by 84 runs away to leaders Downend. It means they are now only four points behind Downend, both sides having played the same number of games.

Wellington bounced back after a poor spell by gaining a 78-run home win over bottom club Taunton Deane to complete the season’s double over their local neighbours.

Openers Nathan Roberts and George Ruell made their best start of the season, putting on 126 for the first wicket. Roberts was first out for 54 while Ruell followed shortly afterwards for 52.

Jack Beal (44) and Jacob Hurry (30) also made runs as Wellington scored 241 all out.

Star of Wellington’s bowling attack was skipper Arron Campbell who took 4-22 in 8.1 overs.

Meanwhile, Wellington 2nd XI will be looking to maintain their position at the top of Division Three in the Somerset League when they play at home to Spaxton who are lying third in the table while Wellington 3rd XI are away to Weston super Mare 4th XI in Division Six West.
