WELLINGTON 3rd XI suffered their fourth defeat of the season when they went down by five wickets at home to Shapwick and Polden.
Mark Salter, chairman of the Wellington club, opened with Simon Burrough and went on to make a fine 70, his knock including 11 boundaries. George Davis scored 36 and Marc Holloway 31 as Wellington were bowled out for 204 in 29.2 overs. Alistair Barr was Polden's most successful bowler with 3-33 while Samuel Trotman took 2-22 and David Ewbank 2-31.
Trotman was the star of the Polden batting, scoring 119 not out with 18 fours and one six. Opener Barr scored 34. Connor Wickenden took 4-54 and there was a wicket for Davis.
Wembdon still have a four-point lead at the top of the table despite being without a match. Wembdon missed a chance of going top after they lost by 48 runs at Middlezoy.
Max Wilkins hit 102, included 12 fours and three sixes, as the home side scored 254-9 in their 40 overs. Greg Turner also scored 48.
Phil Curd scored 78 for Wembdon who finished on 206-8 in their 40 overs with Nathan Peppard taking 3-25 and Joleigh Roberts 3-53.
