WELLINGTON 2nd XI maintained their scorching pace at the top of Division Three in the Somerset Cricket League with a six-wicket home victory over their Chard counterparts.

The South Somerset side, who won the toss and decided to bat, were always in trouble after losing their first wicket with only 15 runs scored.

They were eventually bowled out for 109 in 34.3 overs with their most successful stand being between Danny Clean (36) and Jonathan Scott (28) who put on 50 runs for the fourth wicket.

Alex Derbidge was Wellington's most successful bowler with 4-28, while Rob Moysey took 3-16 and Andy Hurry 2-31.

Wellington were 26-2 early on, having also lost opener Ben Evett (7) who retired, before they went on too win comfortably with Charie Burrough top scoring with 38, while Aks Latifi scored 21 and Ollie Hunt 19 not out.

Chris Boundy took 2-25 while there was a wicket apiece for Joe Draper and Benjamin Riley.

Wellington now have a 54-point lead at the top of the table over second-placed South Petherton who gained a 108-run away win over Minehead 2nd XI.

North Perrott are 32 points adrift at the bottom of the table after they went down by six runs against Taunton Deane.
