THE Somerset CCC 150th Anniversary Book has been published and is selling quickly.

The book is written by people who know and care about Somerset cricket and what it means to the people who live within the county or are part of its far reaching community.

Edited by cricket correspondent Richard Walsh, contributors include Ian Botham, Brian Rose, Vic Marks, Scyld Berry, John Cleese, Marcus Trescothick, Anya Shrubsole, Jos Buttler, among others.

An article about Bill Andrews recalls a night in early 1977 when he drove in the snow from Weston to the Royal Oak at Withypool to be guest speaker at Cutcombe CC’s dinner. After regaling those present with an array of stories, Bill produced a holdall containing copies of his book ‘The Hand that Bowled Bradman’ which he proceeded to sign and sell to those present.

Bill then drove back to Weston, all of which he did free of charge, such was his life long love affair with Somerset.

I wonder if copies of Bill Andrew’s autobiography still adorn the bookshelves of any former Cutcombe CC player or guest who was there on that never to be forgotten occasion?

The Anniversary Book is priced £24.99 from the Somerset County Sports Shop at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
