MINEHEAD 2nd XI went down by seven wickets to Chard in Division Three of the Somerset League.
After being asked to bat first Minehead openers Andrew Stevens and Jonah Hopkins gave their side a good start and put on 68 for the first wicket before Hopkins was caught and bowled by Neil Wyatt for 28.
Stevens was then joined by Charlie Payne and together they added 62 for the second wicket when the latter was dismissed for 50.
Stevens took his total onto 63 before he was run out after which Henry Murrell made an unbeaten 18 as the hosts finished their 40 overs on 177 for four.
When Chard responded they wasted no time setting about their task as openers Jon Scott and Dan Parsons rattled the score along to 120 when the latter was caught and bowled by James Griffiths for 68.
Ricky Lewis then struck twice removing new batters Andrew Clancy and Liam Cleal. However Danny Cleal then joined Scott and between them the pair saw Chard to victory without further loss in the 29th over, Scott remaining unbeaten on 68 while Cleal was 18 not out. For the hosts Lewis claimed two for 32 off his 7.3 overs.
