HEMYOCK remain top of the table in the fourth division of the West Somerset Cricket League after gaining a comfortable nine-wicket home victory over Brompton Ralph.
Put into bat, Brompton Ralph were in all sorts of trouble and were bowled out for 73 in less than 23 overs. Ben Moody (17) and Ian Winter (14) were the only batters to reach double figures. Jim Adams took 4-34 and Smith Kumar 3-2.
Hemyock achieved their target in 15.5 overs with Malcolm Steer scoring 16 runs, Mark Slater 25 not out and Matthew Lear 27 not out.
Second-placed Ashbrittle, with a game in hand on Hemyock, kept up the pressure at the top with a seven-wicket away victory over East Huntspill.
The home side, who decided to bat first, scored 161-9 with Giles Audibert (36) and Alfie Regan (31) being their main batters. Steve Priscott took 3-25 and Boris Priscott 2-31.
Ashbrittle knocked off the runs in 22.2 overs with Peter Woodbury scoring 42, Chris Hill 65 not out and Carl Westcott 23 not out.
Stoke St Mary collected 35 points after their opponents Buckland St Mary and Bishopswood, in third spot, conceded because they could not raise a side.
