TWO teams of Wellington Bowling Club Lions took to their home green at Coram's Lane to do battle with the powerful Heavitree A teams from Exeter.

Mike Copping, Pete Nichols and skip Mike Groves enjoyed a very good game against strong opposition. By the halfway stage they had played well and were just in front, leading by two shots 7–5 - and looking set for a big win against their opponents.

In the last ends both teams fought hard but the Lions held on to their two-shot lead to win 17-15 - a well deserved success against top opposition.

On the next rink, Julian Street, Graham Brown and Lions’ skip Paul Kelly set off at a good pace and after nine ends were 11 shots up on Heavitree 14 – 3 - and also looking set for another fine success.

The Exeter team came back at them in the end game but Paul's trio held on for a really good win by 20 shots to 12.

The Lions' double win gave them a good victory against strong opposition from Devon by 37 shots to 27 which gives them eight points in the league table.
