WELLINGTON Ladies took on Somerton Bowling Club in the Somerset Ladies League - and went down 35-25.
There were two games - one at home in Wellington and the other at Somerton.
The home team of Pat Bridger, Angie Moore, Lynda Manning and skip Ann Cowling started well and took 6 shots on the 5th end to lead 8 shots to 2.
Somerton then came back, taking 4 on the 10th end to bring the score level at 11 all.
From then on it was neck and neck with Wellington leading 16-15 with one end to play.
Unfortunately for Wellington, Somerton picked up 2 shots on the final end to pinch it 17-16.
The away team of Liz May, Di Dagg, Janet Moore and Marguerite Nichols travelled to Somerton to play the away match.
The game started with both teams trading shots, mostly ones and twos, and the score, after 11 ends , stood at 8 shots each.
Somerton then took a 4 on the 12th end to lead 12-8. Unfortunately for Wellington Marguerite sustained an injury to her hamstring. However, she bravely carried on bowling.
The Wellington ladies did all they could after that but the Somerton team kept up the pace to go on and win it 18 shots to 9.
