WELLINGTON Bowling Club Ladies played Mark Moor at home in the Southey Trophy this week. The competition was made up of a singles match, a doubles, a triples and rinks (four in each team).

A point was awarded for each win and if there was a tie the number of shots would be taken into consideration.

Christine Willcocks, playing in the singles for Wellington, took an early lead and never looked back, winning the match comfortably 21–11.

Gill Groves and Tracey Richbell made up the pairs team and were against stiff opposition. They went behind fairly quickly but managed to pull some shots back before losing 14–21.

The triples team of Janet Moore, Liz May and Pat Bridger played some fine bowls and won their match 21– 12 - again it was another good display.

The final rink of four players, June Anderson, Angie Moore, Thelma Helps and skip and captain Brenda Wilson enjoyed a very close match but finally went down 13–16.

When all the shots had been taken into account, Wellington came out worthy winners by nine shots.

Wellington Bowling Club members wish them luck in the next round.
