WELLINGTON Bowling Club Tigers Mike Connor, Eddie Dilley and skip Henry Richbell took an amazing nine-shot “Hotshot” in the Over 60s bowls league match away against St. Thomas C..
In the fifteenth end, each played three bowls and put all nine closer to the jack than the St. Thomas team which is a very unusual occurrence in bowls of any standard.
They will each receive a Hotshot Certificate and badge for managing to do this in a league match. Congratulations go to all three Wellington bowlers!
Henry's threesome were very much in form and they steadily increased their lead to win comfortably 29 shots to 11 against their rivals.
On the next rink, Derek Vile, Alan May and skip Steve Lovell had a much harder time of it. The St. Thomas threesome were used to their green and bowled extremely well all through, so the poor Tigers lost pretty convincingly 24 shots to 6.
However the Tigers scored enough shots at the right moments to make the eventual outcome a 35 – 35 draw.
This was a very close and competitive match which was enjoyed by all those who took part.
