THERE was a very interesting match last Saturday afternoon between two teams in Wellington Bowling Club's Weekend Triples League.
Alan Mark, Dave Hoskison, and skip Shirley Samuel's Allstars are a team mostly made up of new and inexperienced bowlers. So they were not too hopeful of winning against Wendy Scott, Diana Dagg and skip Martin Speakman's New Rollers.
It was no surprise that the Rollers won very convincingly by 16 shots to 1. However, every end was closely fought and the score did not tell the whole story. Dave Hoskins played lead and despite a few varied shots early on he came back well as the game progressed.
Alan Mark also picked up his game as time went by and skip Shirley Samuel played some excellent bowls to ensure the Rollers did not collect large scores every end.
Player of the Match was Wendy Scott who played lead for the Rollers. She bowled near to the jack consistently all though the game which was a huge support for the experienced Diana Dagg and skip Martin Speakman.
It was a good win for the New Rollers andthe game was enjoyed by everyone.
