NYNEHEAD hot-shot Abbey Ling has just failed to qualify to represent Great Britain at the Olympics in Paris.
A disappointed Abbey said: "I missed out on a chance for the Paris Olympics by three clays at the European championships last week, so will now have to wait another four years for the next cycle."
She has been competing at various international events this year in a bid to go to Paris.
Her husband Ed won a bronze medal at Rio in 2016 after competing at the previous two Olympics without achieving a medal.
This has been the highlight of his career and Abbey had been determined this year to become a medalist herself and had been putting everything into gaining selection to compete at the Paris event.
"I've always felt confident when going into events," she added. "But just a few seconds lapse of concentration can cost you dearly. "
She would have improved her chances of qualifying for the Olympics earlier this year when competing at an event in Dohr in Qatar - but missed out on reaching the final by six clays.
However, her big chance was at the European Championship in Italy - but unfortunately, yet again, she just came up short.
