EXMOOR Young Chef of the Year Katrina Nightingale has reached the regional final of a Rotary-organised contest.
Katrina, who lives in Wiveliscombe and attends the town’s Kingsmead School, was runner-up in the Rotary District 1200 Young Chef final at the weekend.
She now goes through with winner on the day Poppy Mackay, of King Alfred School, Burnham on Sea, to the regional final to be held in Cardiff on March 23.
Among the other Rotary District 1200 finalists was 12-year-old Sapphire Haddon, of Minehead, who attends the town’s middle school.
Sapphire was also a finalist in the Exmoor Young Chef competition held last autumn.
The Rotary competition was judged by professional chefs Peter Goodship and Max Coles.
The contest is one of a number of annual competitions hosted by Rotary with the aim of encouraging young people to excel in such skills as cooking, art, photography, writing, environment, and engineering.
