A WOMAN remains in hospital following a serious crash involving a car and a tractor on the A38.

Emergency services are at the scene of the incident at Walford Cross, near the junction with the A361.

Police have already confirmed the road is expected to remain closed for some time and appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

Avon and Somerset Police have released an updated statement which said: “We were called at 8.26am today (October 4) to reports of a serious collision between a tractor and a Peugeot car on the A38 in Walford Cross.

“Officers have attended and remain at the scene alongside the fire and ambulance services.

“A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The A38 has been closed in both directions at the junction with the A361.”

Traffic monitor Inrix reports: "A38 Adsborough Hill Northbound closed, slow traffic due to accident from Creech St Michael turn off to Boome Lane."
