COUNCIL tax bills levied by Wiveliscombe town councillors are set to go up by 16 per cent from April 1.

The increase in the 2025-26 precept, the portion of council tax spent by Wiveliscombe councillors, will see the average band D property bill rise by £12.

A council spokesperson said: “The council needs this additional money in anticipation of the need to deliver services that are important to Wiveliscombe but no longer provided by Somerset Council due to its financial situation.

“Full council tax bills, which include Somerset Council, police and fire service elements as well as the small local precept, will be finalised and published in due course.

“Some people are eligible for a council tax reduction, depending on their personal circumstances.”
