WELLINGTON shops will be competing to see who can put on the best Christmas window display.

The Town Council are running the contest, with entry forms distributed to shops throughout the town.

The winner of the competition will have their names engraved on the coveted Christmas Shop Window Competition shield, and take the trophy into their possession until the time of next year's contest.

Commenting a spokesperson for the Town Council said: "We are excited to be running the Christmas Shop Window Competition this year after the wonderful Sue Smith handed us the reindeer reins.  "Shops throughout Wellington have received an entry form for this year’s competition (let us know if we missed you out!) and we are so looking forward to seeing what window displays they come up with.  "The winner of the competition will receive this shield and will have their name engraved on it. They can proudly display this shield for the next year when it will be collected again and passed onto the next winner."
