WELLINGTON Town Council has already been thanked for its efforts since taking over the responsibility of open spaces from cash-strapped Somerset Council.

It was only on April 1 when the town council took on the likes of Wellington Park and the Playing Field.

And it seems as if the council has already made a positive impact with open spaces manager Darren Hill at the helm of the operation.

Chief executive and town clerk, Dave Farrow, speaking at the town council’s environment committee on April 22, said: “We’ve already had an email from Wellington Cricket Club thanking Darren for trying to improve the outfield at the playing field.

“Within the space of just three weeks the club has already noticed a difference.”
