The Wellington Tennis Club has been dubbed best in county by the Somerset Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).The local club was awarded the 'Club of the Year' accolade in the 2023 awards.

Sue Rackley, chairman of the Wellington Tennis Club said: "In the last few years we have had a new court which opened up during the first Covid lockdown which provided more court availability for the public. We now  have hundreds of bookings annually  from the public which generates good income  yet our price remains only £6 an hour. What other paid activity could a family do for £6?"

We have expanded both adult and junior tennis programmes and hold school holidays tennis camps.  In addition we are offering more morning  sessions and  2  Cardio tennis sessions - one on an evening and one in the morning  and a monthly improvers session. Non-members can attend these sessions."

The LTA say the awards celebrate achievements made by outstanding individuals and venues in tennis. Competition winners will be presented with certificates by a member of the LTA Council, along with a small token of appreciation. Additionally, winners will be invited to purchase a pair of tickets to Wimbledon.
