SIXTH Form students at Wellington School have achieved an excellent set of A Level, BTEC and EPQ results.
A total of 40 per cent of all grades awarded were A* or A, and eight students achieved at least three A* grades. Wellington’s results are well above the national average at every grade point.
And 83 per cent of students secured their first-choice destination, with the rest gaining entry into their second-choice university.
These impressive grades will see students taking up places on a wide range of competitive courses at leading universities.
Destinations and courses include Economics and Management at Oxford, Physics and Chemistry at Imperial, Medicine at Bristol and Cardiff, Law and Economics at Warwick, American Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College, Modern European Languages and History at Durham and Robotics, Mechatronics and Control Engineering at Loughborough.
There were also excellent results for those students completing their Sports BTEC Level 3 National Diploma, with more than half of the cohort achieving the top distinction grades. A total of 67 per cent of those students completing their Extended Project Qualification achieved A* or A.
Headmaster Eugene du Toit said: “We are immensely proud of our students for achieving such an excellent set of results. If we set aside the COVID years, these are the best results since 2016/7 and they reflect the hard work and dedication of both our students and their teachers.”
“Students’ success has also been supported by the hard work of the wider school community; support staff, alumni, parents and volunteers have all played a part in helping our students achieve to the best of their ability.”
Mr du Toit went on to say “Wellington’s ethos rests on three pillars: building outstanding relationships, the pursuit of excellence and a love of learning.”
He added: “These results confirm that the collaborative relationships between students and their teachers see them enjoying their learning and achieving to an excellent standard.”
