A CANCELLED 60th birthday party has seen a local woman raise £600 for the Love Musgrove campaign.
The money will be used to support the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, which cares for cancer patients.
Mandy Parson, from Wellington, saw her party at Wellington Football Club cancelled due to a water leak, so Wessex Water made a donation, which was added to the total sum being donated to the centre.
Mandy said: “We would firstly love to thank all the family and friends who very kindly also donated even though the actual party at the football club didn't go ahead because of an issue with the water mains.”
Some parts of Wellington were also affected and Mandy thanked the water board for the generous donation to the cause after the incident.
In association with Beryl Card and other senior citizens friends, a coffee morning in aid of Love Musgrove is taking place in Bulford Hall, Wellington, this time supporting the breast cancer unit.
Everybody is welcome to attend the coffee morning between 10am and 11.30am on June 12.
The morning will include tombola, hot refreshments such as tea and coffee, soft drinks plus chocolate biscuits and cake, to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
Mandy is encouraging residents to attend and enjoy the morning, have a chat and a piece of cake.
Love Musgrove is the hospital’s official charity which raises money to fund new projects, buildings and equipment that make a difference for patients at what is often a difficult time.
