WELLINGTON Library will be celebrating its return to its traditional home on Monday (September 30).
The library is set to reopen its doors after a lengthy refurbishment at 9.30am, which will be followed by an official opening later in the week.
The library, which has been a cornerstone of the community since 1969, closed in May to undergo a £900,000 revamp and has been temporarily housed on North Street.
The changes to the Grade-I listed building include enhanced accessibility with improved access across all floors, new community spaces, an additional space in the children’s library as well as eco-friendly upgrades to increase thermal efficiency in line with Somerset Council’s Climate Emergency Strategy.
Wellington Library will be officially opened by Mayor of Wellington Cllr Janet Lloyd on Wednesday, October 2, at 11am.
Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, executive lead member for communities, housing, and culture, said: “We’re thrilled to have Wellington Library back in Fore Street. The upgraded premises will serve as a vibrant hub for both the local community and visitors.”
Wellington Library opening hours are, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30am - 5pm, and Thursday and Saturday 9.30am -1pm
