Wellington firefighters responded to reports of a a burning building with a woman believed to be trapped inside.
Three fire engines were deployed to the North Petherton blaze from Bridgwater and Taunton stations before further support was mobilised from Wellington and an aerial ladder platform was brought from Bridgwater station.
The fire brigade requested ambulance and police attend the scene due to the nature of the incident.
Crews confirmed there was a fire within the first floor bedroom of a two storey semi-detached property and set about tackling the fire. Two hose reel jets and a safety jet were deployed as part of the effort to extinguish the flames.
At 10.41 am fire crews confirmed all persons were accounted for and that one female had been rescued from the property and put into the care of awaiting ambulance personnel.
The woman is suffering from smoke inhalation and has been taken to hospital for observation.
The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service have said the cause of the fire was deliberate.
