A WELLINGTON-born social media influencer has attended the UK’s biggest night for music, the BRIT Awards, as a guest of the music streaming platform Spotify.
After an appearance at the BAFTAs in early February, Wellington’s own Flynn West was exclusively invited to attend the BRIT Awards on Saturday, March 1, documenting his experience for his mass social media following.
From walking the red carpet at London’s O2 Arena, to witnessing some of the night’s biggest performances, the Somerset-born creator, who studied in Taunton, says it felt unreal to have spent the evening with some the music industry’s biggest names.
Flynn said: “I’ve always been obsessed with music — it’s such a huge part of my creative process. So, when Spotify invited me to the BRITs, I was in complete shock.
“I’ve watched the BRITs for years from my living room, but actually being there? That’s a whole different level.
“It felt unreal. Everywhere I turned, there was someone whose music I’ve had on repeat for years.
“I knew people would want to feel like they were right there with me, so I made sure to document everything — the glam, the chaos, and all the unfiltered moments.”
Mr West had the chance to witness performances from chart topping artists such as Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX and found himself connecting with a number of fellow influencers and creators which, he says, was a highlight of the evening.
Next up, Flynn is heading to SXSW in Texas with TikTok from March 6-12, where he’ll be sharing insights into the creator economy, followed by a filming stint with the BBC for an upcoming show.
Flynn said: “The BRIT Awards reminded me how powerful music is—not just as entertainment, but as something that connects people in such a meaningful way.
“I’m more inspired than ever to create content that resonates on a deeper level.”
