A WELLINGTON-based artist has made it into the finals of the ‘Sketch for Survival’ competition run by the charity Explorers Against Extinction.
Sue Salter is one of 100 finalists whose work will be exhibited in The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh and The OXO Gallery, London.
The local artist has been named a finalist for the second year running with her work ‘African Elephant’, which was submitted alongside around 1,000 other entrants in her category.
Sue is a member of the Association of Animal Artists and regularly draws wild and domestic animals.
She created ‘African Elephant’ using coloured pencils and pastel.
‘Sketch for Survival’ is an art initiative encouraging artists of varying abilities from around the world to submit artworks based on the theme of an endangered species of habitat.
The works of the finalists will be part of the ‘On the Edge’ exhibition at The OXO Gallery, London from October 31 until November 17.
At the end of the exhibition, the art will be sold in an online auction to raise funds to support global conservation projects.
Sue said: “I’m very much looking forward to attending a private viewing of the London exhibition at the end of October with my husband.”
The winner will be chosen by public choice vote and will be announced after the exhibition.
