WELL-known and beloved Wellington butcher Colin Greedy has died, aged 88.
After a long battle with poor health, Mr Greedy passed away on January 5, at Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.
Colin is succeeded by his wife Doris, children Pamela and Trevor, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Born in Rockwell Green in 1936, Colin spent his life in and around Wellington as a renowned tradesman and much-loved family man.
Well known for his work as a butcher, Colin began his long career in the village butcher’s shop. He later worked for Brian Tyler, the former owner of the Fore Street butcher’s shop, now Tim Potter’s family butchers. His daughter Pam and son-in-law Tim bought the shop in 1996 where Colin then worked until his retirement.
The family butchers paid tribute to Mr Greedy online saying: “With the deepest sadness, we would like to let you all know, Colin Greedy: Dad, Grandad, Great Grandad and close friend of many of our customers has sadly passed away after battling with his health the last few months.”
Colin is remembered by his children as a man well loved by many in the community, both in his work and at home.
Details of Mr Greedy’s funeral are yet to be confirmed.
