WELLINGTON residents are being warned to expect disruption when a town centre road is closed for 22 hours so water works can be carried out.

Wessex Water says work on the supply network is “essential” but it will result in the closure of Fore Street on Sunday and Monday, July 28-29.

Residents affected by the work have been written to by the water board which has apologised for any inconvenience this may cause.

Wessex Water said in the letter: “We’re carrying out essential work on the water supply network from 9am on Sunday, July 28, and 7pm on Monday, July 29.

“This will involve closing the road to all through traffic to ensure the safety of the public and our staff.

“Alternative routes will be clearly signposted and every effort will be made to maintain pedestrian access through the works. If you live where we are carrying out work you will still have pedestrian access to your property.

“We may need access to the street to the front or side of your property. Every effort will be made to keep dispruption to a minimum and complete the essential work as quickly as possible.

“You can continue to use your water supply as normal unless we tell you otherwise.”
