KEVIN Aylott, the former treasurer of Wellington Conservative Club, has died.
Mr Aylott was suffering from cancer when he appeared at Taunton Crown Court, pleading guilty to fraud and abuse of his position in October, 2016.
He walked away from the court with a sentence of 12 months, suspended for two years.
The Conservative Club’s total loss was £53,485 and at the trial he was told to repay the money within six months. If he did not he would be subject to a recall and possibly subsequent imprisonment.
Mr Aylott lived at Sylvan Road, Wellington, and was in his 60s when he died.
