THE combined cadet force of Wellington School was represented at The Rifles awards dinner, in The Guildhall, London, by contingent commander Wing Cmdr Nigel Renyard.
The school was invited as a ‘thank you’ for hosting The Rifles for the regiment's Freedom of Wellington parade which took pace last June.
The dinner was hosted by the Colonel Commandant of The Rifles, Lieut General Tom Copinger-Symes, who led the June parade and received the Freedom of Wellington from the town’s mayor, Cllr Marcus Barr.
Queen Camilla also attended the occasion in her role as the regiment's Colonel-in-Chief.
After the dinner, Wing Cmdr Renyard - The Willows 1983-88 - met three other Old Wellingtonians to reminisce about their days at school, Capt Max Savage (currently Adjutant 6 Rifles), Hardwick 2009-15, Capt Jeremy Pitman (Officer Commanding Army, Wellington School CCF), Richards 1994-2000, and Major (Retired) Rory McCaffery (currently The Rifles regional secretary), Lights 1978-82.
