Scores of people lined Fore Street and High Street in Wellington and applauded as popular town man Terry Ayres took his final journey yesterday (Thursday).

Terry, who died recently aged 77, worked at town beauty and cosmetics firm Swallowfied for 48 years and could often be seen out and about in Wellington on his bike, and at The Iron Duke. Funeral director Matt Foster, of Quantock Funeral Services, told the WWN last week: “We will pause outside The Iron Duke and then on to Swallowfield, so that his friends and colleagues can say a final goodbye.”

A private family funeral service was held at Taunton Deane Crematorium.
