SWALLOWFIELD in Wellington has held a summer fete to raise money for the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital and to mark the firm’s sale to the KDC/One Group.

Two members of staff are undergoing treatment at the Beacon Centre and a team of employees across the business co-ordinated the day’s events.

Attractions included a raffle with many prizes donated by local businesses, cake sale, chocolate tombola, tin can alley and many more activities. Employees were given time off to attend the event and could also pay £1 to throw wet sponges at the group leadership team.

Development chemist Conan Fisher raised £570.36 by having his hair cut by Alison Cooney, owner of The Mount Salon in High Street, Wellington. Conan is donating his hair to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs to children and young people who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or for other reasons.

The event raised £3,185.87 and Swallowfield chief executive Matthew Gazzard said: “We were delighted to support our first charity summer fete for such a great local cause.

“The company has happily matched the total raised by the team, so we are delighted to have made £6,371.74.

“It also marks the next very exciting and positive stage in Swallowfield’s development under the new ownership of KDC/ONE.”
