RESIDENTS in Meadowside, Rockwell Green, are hoping to have their streets lit for Christmas, after being plunged into darkness more than three weeks ago.
Darkness in the area has caused concerns among commuters and residents, particularly as the mornings and evenings are at their darkest in these winter months.
Somerset Cllr Andy Govier said: “We are aware of the issue at Meadowside and have chased it up with the council.
“We have discovered that the outage comes as a result of an electrical supply issue, rather than an issue with the street lights themselves.”
Meadowside, which receives its electrical supply from Western Power, appears to be the only area affected.
Cllr Govier said he was chasing Western Power this week and hoped to have the lights back on in time for Christmas.
He said: “It’s an important route for commuters and lots of elderly live in the bungalows around there, so we’re doing everything we can to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
