THE achievements of Kingsmead School, Wiveliscombe, students over the last academic year have been marked.
Students, parents, staff and governors attended the celebration event and awards were presented for academic subject and sport accomplishments.
Headteacher and leader of student support commendations were also awarded along with the following school trophies:
Owen Waygood (Year 10) – The Peter Mullan Rotary Cup for Excellent Progress in the Enrichment Centre.
Scott Fudge (Year 10) – The George Heath Memorial Trophy for Excellent Progress in Music.
Josie Bryan (Year 11) – The Wiveliscombe Book Group Award for Endeavour.
Deiniol Brown (Year 11) – The Wiveliscombe Book Group Award for History.
Anna Cregan (Year 9) – The Emma Harris Award for Reading.
William Varney (Year 9) – The 10 Radio Award.
Daisy Harwood and William Thorne (Year 11) – The Paul Cups for outstanding all-round contribution to school sport.
Dylan Gallagher (Year 11) – The Whitehouse Cup for achieving success at the highest level in sport.
Ross Leach (Year 11) – The Zambian Trophy for achievement in Geography – a new award this year, given by the Kingsmead/Kitwe exchange parents.
Guests enjoyed musical interludes on the night with a medley of songs from We Will Rock You, performed by some of the student cast of the show which will hit the Kingsmead stage in November.
Year 10 Scott Fudge left the crowd spellbound with his saxophone performance, playing his own composition entitled A Summer Evening in Somerset.
The school was pleased to welcome back Mark Griffin and Gill Turner, who retired from their roles as headteacher and chairman of governors in the summer, and to thank them for their service to Kingsmead.
