PEOPLE in Somerset have raised a staggering £38,000 at this year's St Margaret’s Hospice Colour Run which was held at Taunton racecourse.

Residents from all over the county attended the event, with participant numbers reaching 718 on Saturday, May 18.

Runners lit up the racecourse with an array of colourful outfits and glitter face paint and bright accessories.

St Margaret’s Hospice set the challenge to run two laps of the Taunton racecourse and to do as vibrantly as possible using colour stations around the route.

Jon Witney, a regular attendee of the colour run, said: “An absolutely amazing day and so much fun. Even bigger and better than previous years.

“Thank you for everything you guys do, keep being amazing and helping people like us. It’s so incredibly appreciated”.

Other activities included inflatables, Formula One simulators, food, drinks, face painting, and stalls filled with goodies.

Merle Harrison-Croft, events Mmanager for St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “It was a fantastic day. We’re delighted to have raised such an incredible amount of money for our hospice care.

“To have raised almost double the amount of last year is incredible – it would not have been possible without the support of local businesses and our incredible volunteers, as well as everyone who took part."

To finish the day's antics, the afternoon saw a lively performance by the Somerset Red Arrow Majorettes.
