Students and staff at St John's Primary School are celebrating after being given the thumbs up by schools inspectors.

The primary school was awarded a 'good' rating after inspectors from Ofsted carried out their latest review in March.

Olly priestley, headteacher at St John's, said the report: "Highlighted the many strengths St John’s demonstrates every day.”

The report found that pupils enjoy attending the school, which they describe as a 'kind and welcoming place.'

Inspectors also praised the ambition of school leaders, and the behaviour of pupils, whose positive attitude to learning was remarked upon.

Mr Priestly said: "The comments made throughout the inspection are a credit to the whole of the school community. As a school we have been focusing on reading, so to hear the positive feedback about our provision was rewarding for all. Most pleasing for me was the praise we received about our children who are a joy to teach every day.

"I am extremely proud to be headteacher at St John's Primary School, where the children are always central to decision making. It is pleasing that our relationship approach to education has been vindicated and celebrated and we look forward to continuing to strive forward as a school."
