RESIDENTS of Somerset are being reminded of the dangers of driving on rural roads and how speed can cause devastating outcomes in crashes.

Somerset Road Safety Partnership, via its social media accounts, is running a campaign of Tweets (on X, formerly Twitter) reminding people of the dangers when it comes to excessive speeds.

The group is firmly reinforcing the message that speed limits are a limit, and not a target. Expressing the importance of assessing the road conditions and level of traffic facing drivers, lower speeds may be more appropriate even if under stated posted speed limit.

In a tweet, Somerset Road Safety said: “You don't need to race to get to that speed limit, or to go over it. Don’t let the pressure to push your speed get to you – your mates will still be there.”
