THERE will be no rubbish collections on the Summer Bank Holiday this Monday, 29 August in Somerset.

This means recycle and rubbish services are one day later all week, including Friday pick-ups on Saturday 3 September, Somerset Waste Partnership announced.

The changes affect recycling, refuse and garden waste collections, as well as assisted collections.

They advise that residents should sort and segregate materials, ensure nothing that can be recycled – especially food – is in the rubbish bin, and put all waste containers out early or the night before.

Recycling sites remain on their usual timetables, with all 16 open 9am-4pm on the bank holiday Saturday and Sunday weekend.

And 12 sites will be open 9am-6pm on Bank Holiday Monday: Bridgwater, Castle Cary, Chard, Cheddar, Crewkerne, Frome, Minehead, Street, Taunton, Wells, Williton, Yeovil.

All kerbside collections return to their usual schedules from Monday 5 September.
