A ‘CAPABLE’ trombone player is being sought by Wellington Silver Band.
It is looking for somebody who would be interested in ‘the principal seat going forward’, and also wants a tuned percussionist.
The band has about 30 members and in 2025 will mark the 165th anniversary of its origins.
A spokesperson said: “We are an aspiring, friendly and, currently, non-contesting band with a desire to improve and expand our portfolio.
“Give us a try, or, if you are in the area, do not hesitate to join us for a rehearsal.”
The band, whose new musical director Martin Pearce took over last May, rehearses in the bandroom off Fore Street on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 pm to 9.45 pm.
Anybody interested in the vacancies should email the secretary at [email protected].
The silver band, formed in 1860, was originally Wellington Rifle Corps Band attached to the 8th Somerset Rifles and became a town band in 1887.
