LOCAL family-run cider farm, Sheppy’s, has jumped on the ‘Dry January’ bandwagon to accommodate those taking on the sober challenge in the New Year.

Sheppy’s joins a collection of other cider brands such as Old Mout, Thatchers, and Stowford Press, as it releases its low alcohol range and promotes ‘Dry January’.

A spokesperson from Sheppy's Cider Farm said: "We're a family-run farm that's been lovingly crafting premium award-winning craft ciders for over 200 years, making us one of the oldest independent cider makers in the world.

"Six generations of the Sheppy's family have weathered the ups and downs of combining farming with cider-making by embracing change and opportunity."

Dry January is a new change that Sheppy's are most recently embracing.

According to Forbes, one in five adults claimed to have participated in ‘Dry January’ in 2022, up 13 per cent from 2021.

The majority of people taking part in ‘Dry January’ come from either 'Millenial' or 'Generation Z' categories.

Along with ‘Dry January’, ‘Damp January’ has also gained popularity, which requires sobriety only for a portion of the month, making it a more realistic alternative for some.

Any local people taking part in either ‘Dry’ or ‘Damp’ January can enjoy the same Sheppy’s flavour in their new low alcohol ciders.

Those opting for mindful alternatives can choose between a low alcohol raspberry cider or a standard low alcohol cider, which imitates the brand’s classic draught.
