HEMYOCK Scouts B team were runners-up in the Tiverton District campfire cooking competition held at John Greenshields’ Woodland Park Farm, Wellington.
The competition was judged on three areas: fire lighting and fire control using flint or a limited number of matches; the quality of cooking and menu; and clear up – no litter and no evidence of a fire.
The winners were Halberton B who cooked sweet and sour chicken with their own made sauce with rice, followed by cinnamon and apple cake cooked in foil. Third place went to Halberton A.
The meals cooked by the scout groups were tasted and scored by guest judges Trevor Stark from Rumwell Farm Shop butchery department and John Greenshields from Woodland Park Farm
