MOTORISTS helped raise £225 for a scout group and a children’s charity by paying to have their cars washed on Saturday.
Rumwell Farm Shop and the 1st Wellington Scout Group teamed up to raise money for the scouts and Escape Support Group.
Anne Mitchell, joint owner of the farm shop, said: “We’re delighted lots of people took advantage and supported the car wash, which was held for two great local causes.
“Escape Support Group is one of our charities of the year and we are so pleased that the scouts were happy to come on board again for the fundraiser – and also collected some money for their own activities.”
The car wash was held in the farm shop car park and cost £4 a vehicle with £2 going to the Wellington Scouts and £2 to Escape Support Group.
Anne added: “The £225 was divided equally between the two charities and they both received £112.50 each.”
Escape Support Group supports families who have children with disabilities or specific individual needs in the Somerset area.
Dave Belfield, executive chairman at 1st Wellington Scout Group, said: “The money raised will be going towards improving the scouts’ camping and activities equipment, benefiting all age groups across Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.”
