The Quantock Hills, Mendip Hills and Blackdown Hills Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty have a new volunteer co-ordinator.
Sammy Fraser will co-ordinate the volunteers who give up their time to conserve and enhance the areas through practical conservation tasks or at public events that inspire others to get involved.
She will be helping to organise all the tasks and find new opportunities and training for the volunteers.
She said: “I was amazed to discover that the volunteers in the Quantock Hills have done more than 2,500 hours this year.
“Volunteering is such a great thing for people to do and
especially in such beautiful areas of Somerset.
“We know that providing opportunities for people to volunteer can improve their mental and physical health alongside improving wildlife habitats and making better access for visitors.”
