A SOMERSET charity has this month received a £4,550 donation from Rumwell Farm Shop near Wellington.

Mind in Somerset was recently presented with the money that was raised by staff and customers at throughout 2024.

Anne Mitchell, partner at the farm shop, located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, said: “We’re thrilled to have donated £4,550 to Mind in Somerset, which was our chosen Charity of The Year for 2024. It does wonderful work helping to deliver services to people throughout Somerset.

“With mental health a key issue impacting on our farming community, it was a relatable charity for us to support. We were so please to have also helped raise awareness of the work it does too.”

Mind in Somerset works across the county to provide support and resources for people experiencing mental health challenges. It offers a range of services, including emotional support, counselling and community outreach.

Farm shop partner Sophie Mitchell adds: “We had hoped to raise £3,000 for the charity, so are delighted to have hit our target and gone beyond it. We raised the money from proceeds from our quiz nights throughout the year and hosted a special awareness and fundraising Charity Day in the summer. Team members also donated £2 each to wear festive jumpers on a day in the run up to Christmas.”

Mind in Somerset’s goal is to promote mental well-being, raise awareness, and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues.

Alison Baker, corporate partnerships co-ordinator with Mind in Somerset, said: “We were delighted when we were selected to work in partnership with Rumwell Farm Shop as their 2024 Charity of the Year. It was such a tremendous opportunity for us, not only to raise funds for our charity, but also to raise awareness of the work that we do to support those experiencing mental health challenges.”
